Having been on more than a dozen hunts makes him a great resource to learn about this type of Big Game Hunting.  He tells us about the different types of hunts that can be done: Bear Over Bait; Spot & Stock; Bears with Hounds; Trap.  In addition to explaining these different ways to hunt Bears, he also talks about the gear needed for each.  The guys discuss safety concerns, terrain, how to bait, the differences between Grizzly Bears vs Black Bears, effective ammo and much more! TLP 204 Did The Military Pick The Best Handgun For Our Troops?

http://traffic.libsyn.com/talkinglead/Edited_TLP_204.mp3 TLP 204 Did The Military Pick The Best Handgun For Our Troops? Welcome back to the Talking Lead Show episode TLP 204!  This week Lefty delves into The XM17 Modular Handgun System (MHS) competition. The United States Army and United States Air Force competition for a new service pistol. With so many complaints with the Beretta 92FS aka: M-9, after 2o years it was time to replace it with a more modern, more lethal, more modular handgun.  For now, the M9's replacement appears to be the Sig Sauer P320.  Was the "best" handgun chosen?  Was the MHS competition ended prematurely?  Did the Government pick price over performance again?  We discuss these questions and more in this episode of Talking Lead! To help with the discussion we invited a qualified group of current and former Military servicemen to join in the discussion. John Peterson: A former Army Special Forces soldier with service before and after 9/11 overseas both as an SF troop and intelligence contractor. John has served as a full time firearms instructor at Smith & Wesson Academy and Sig Sauer Academy for 3 years each, then a tour in Afghanistan as a Special Forces soldier, then serving at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security before becoming a contractor supporting the war effort.  Earlier in his career, he served as an Infantryman in the U.S. Army during the Reagan era, before going in the Special Forces. As an instructor, he has taught in over 60 types of firearms, tactics, driving, and intelligence courses as well as at 55 conferences to date. He has taught to police officers from all 50 states, all of the federal law enforcement agencies, and numerous allied countries as well as corrections, executive protection, private security,  and several thousand private citizens. He is a life member of the NRA, Second Amendment Foundation, Special Operations Association, and Veterans of Foreign Wars John has written for both newsstand magazine and online outlets on firearms, training, and terrorism, such as Firearms News, Be Ready, Tactical Shooter, and the Journal of Counterterrorism and Homeland Security International.  He is currently working on the first of three firearms books. Our first interview is a really fun and educational one with our good friend Chad Enos of Kel-Tec and Jansen Jones President of Freedom Munitions.  You also know Jansen as one of 3-Gun's premier competitors.  Jansen gives us a little history behind Freedom Munitions and how he has helped grow the company from 50 employees to over 400 employees now.  They have achieved such massive growth by the caliber of men and women they employ and their focus on superior customer service. Jansen shares a couple of new products Freedom Munitions has developed one being "Bore Buster" ammo which is primarily for the AR-15 rifle with special rounds which include 64 grain .223, 90 grain 6.8 SPC, 168 grain .308 and a special .300 win mag.  If you are into the big caliber bullets FM has come out with their affordable "Big Grains" line that focuses on low-cost, heavy plated, heavy weight bullets like the 458 SOCOM, 50 AE & 550 S&W. As if he was not busy enough Jansen, along with his buddy Rob Romero (of 3-Gun fame and the "Ninja Cock" click for video) started a new company called Next Evolution Research & Design (N.E.R.D.)  NERD's focus is on developing innovative products no matter what the costs.  A couple of new products they have available are"The Ward" a 9mm barrel to satisfy the sub gun competition shooters and the other is "The Coffin Nail".  Made with stainless-steel internals the CN is an ambidextrous charging.  The ambidextrous tac latches are independent, allowing either one or both levers to be pulled at the same time, virtually eliminating the risk of a bind or malfunction. Next up Mike Sodini, President of Eagle Imports helps Lefty co-host guest Jonathan Hayes with Do All Outdoors.  Mike and Lefty have some fun with Jon during this interview but he is able to talk about Do All Outdoors a little.   Founded in 1997, Do-All Outdoors has become the leader in providing innovative gear for the hunter and shooter. Their full line of traps and targeting systems has set the bar for recreational shooters on all skill levels. From paper, steel and Impact Seal targets to manual and automatic traps, they are the one-stop shop for all of your shooting needs. Our last guests for Vol 3 come to us via Utah.  Kenny Barlow, Vice President of Sales & Amelia Pulman with North American Arms join Lefty to discuss the rich 40 year history of NAA.  Amelia brings along one of their more popular mini revolvers the "Pug".  The "Pug-T" is a 5 shot revolver that comes in .22 mag or .22 long and has tritium sights.  Another fun interview that will not fail to entertain you.
