This Podcast will discuss an approach to pediatric periorbital edema. In this episode, listeners will determine the key differential diagnoses for the presentation of periorbital edema and learn an approach to the history, physical exam, and diagnostic studies used. Key points that differentiate periorbital cellulitis from orbital cellulitis and the management of each will also be discussed. This episode reviews the management of IgE-mediated food allergies in children. At the end of the podcast, listeners will be able to define food allergy, develop and approach to the history and physical examination of a child with an allergic reaction to food, describe how a food allergy is diagnosed, discuss the treatment of allergic reaction to food, and outline long term risk reduction strategies for a food allergy. This is the second episode in a two part series discussing septic arthritis as an acute monoarthritis presentation in children. In this podcast, listeners will learn about the key investigations, treatment, and prognosis for septic arthritis. The series was developed by Dr. Brieanne Rogers, in collaboration with Dr. Janet Ellsworth, Dr. Sukhdeep Dulai, and Dr. Peter Gill.
