Today's show is brought to you by Celtic Invasion Vacations

Every year, I take Celtic music fans on an adventure of a lifetime. This is not your typical wham-bam-thank you m'aam tour. We travel in small groups. We explore the Celtic history of different regions. We don't need to see everything, because this is a vacation. Instead, our invasion brings out the relaxation and magic of our adventure. In 2018, you can join me on a Celtic Invasion of the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Sign up to the mailing list at celticinvasion.com.

Lukas Zmuidzinas emailed: "Hello! I've been listening to your podcast for a few years now, and have always loved discovering new bands and artists every week. Last night, I had the wonderful opportunity to go see a show by a band called the Recollective, a fairly new Celtic group. I wasn't sure if you'd heard of them, but if not, you should definitely check them out!! They played an outstanding concert, and they were all very lovely people. Thanks so much for all your hard work in creating your awesome show! Cheers"

Hank Woodward emailed: "Hi Marc, Just want to pass along another huge thank you for all you do in bringing us wonderful music through the Irish & Celtic Music podcast. Also wanted to relate a great musical experience I got to share with my son Jackson (rising 9th grade violist) about a month ago. We got to see Mithril perform with the local Johnson City (TN) Symphony Orchestra. I got to talk a bit with the fiddler, Tom Morely, and let him know that I first heard their music on the Irish & Celtic Music podcast. The performance was doubly special to us, as three of the performers in the orchestra we know personally through the music school (Suzuki Talent Education of Appalachia), where my son and I take our viola lessons. Thanks again for continuing to bring us all the fantastic music on the Irish & Celtic Music podcast. Slainte"

The Celtic Invasion of Brittany was incredible. One of the coolest things about the trip for me was learning more about the Celts before they settled in seven Celtic nations.

I emailed my Celtic Invasion Vacations subscribers telling them I was considering adding another Invasion to Venice. One person responded saying it made no sense. Because what does Venice have to do with the Celts. The answer is a lot more than you would think.

In fact, we learned in Brittany that one of the main Celtic tribes to settle the area near Vannes were the Veneti. If you follow the place names of where the Celts settled, one area was the Veneto. My step-dad is from Padova in the Veneto. Ever since I started playing Celtic music, he's experienced the Celtic influence in the Veneto which settled the region in the 9th and 10th century B.C. By the 3rd century b.c. they had migrated to Brittany in France. There's even a Po River in Carnac. The Po River is one of the main rivers in the Veneto.

The list goes on and on. I'll try and do an episode of The Celtfather podcast with more details. Needless to say, it was a fascinating glimpse of history. It's amazing to realize Celtic culture can be found throughout Europe.

If you want to experience more of the trip, I recorded a bunch of videos and set them to my music. There's a playlist on YouTube.

Celtic Music Journal:
What I’m decided to share with you in this particular show is some of the music from the artists that have appeared on our show, The Celtic Music Journal. I call it “The Celtic Music Journal Spotlight”. While the show is a visual medium, I thought it’d be fun to spotlight the music for you. There’s a lot of variety and I’m sure you’ll enjoy it. The man himself Marc Gunn has been on our show too & you’ll hear him here! Listen and enjoy, then you can then watch all the artists you hear in this show! Just click to our website and we’re also on YouTube, our channel is at www.youtube.com/user/sixtysevenmusic. Log in,watch and subscribe!

The Celtic Music Journal is produced by 67 Music. We began the show in August 2014. Since then we’ve produced 7 editions with more on the way. The premise is simple yet unique: we invite bands, musicians and other artists to send us their video ‘journals’, to tell their story & show the world what they offer and what they do. We then gather 3-5 journals per show and put them together to share with you. It’s an exciting way to discover up and coming talent and revisit established artists. We’ve featured artists from all over the world. You should consider being on it, too! Just click to our website for details and watch all the shows.

As always, I want to send out a HUGE thanks to the patrons of the podcast. Your generous pledge of as little as $1 per episode pays for the production of this podcast as well as my time in producing the show. You will enjoy a personal podcast feed where you can listen to the show before regular subscribers, occasional extended editions of the show, and my deepest thanks. When we hit a milestone, you get a 2-hour special. Thanks to our newest patrons: John OConnor, Keriann Noble, Mary Botkin, Samuel G, Donald McLeod, and a extra special thanks to our newest Celtic Superstar, Nancie. Thank you all for your generosity! Become a patron today!

Kevin emailed: "Listening to May the Forth be with you while walking our area Nature Center. Appreciate you."

Aliza emailed regarding the Texas Scottish Festival episode: "This episode is so unique to what you usually provide. Seems the genres are blending - which is cool - it's like I don't know what to expect when I turn this on in the morning. I usually bookmark the episodes I really enjoy and label them with the vibe they project. I know you've received some criticism recently - but ones man's trash is another man's treasure! Don't let the haters get you down. Slainte!"

Joyce Pavelko emailed me: "Hi Marc~ I don't use social media, hence this email. Three brief things I want to tell you:

1) I am a very happy subscriber who just wants to wish you safe travels and some motherly-type advice to be careful.

2) My mother and I are traveling to Ireland and Scotland in June. I can't wait to actually hear the music that I've been listening to on your podcast in its native land!

3) My niece named her daughter Inara. ;-)

Thank you for your devotion to Celtic music. Sent with fondness, Joyce Pavelko, Arlington Heights, Illinois

Edward Montgomery emailed: "Imagine my surprise when I heard you mention my name on a podcast as I drove by a herd of buffalo (true story) this morning. I've listened, bought a compilation, several individual tunes, a CD and t-shirt from the Corktown Popes, etc. The shout out reminded me to make arrangements to become a financial supporter and I took care of that just now. Thanks for the wide variety you bring to the listeners. I love Altan, The Chieftains and others but I love being exposed to folks I might never hear of otherwise. Thanks again"

Johnny Sinclair emailed: "Hello Marc, Been a subscriber to your podcasts since #1 though I had a data loss that lost most of them. The new site took some getting used to but should be fine. I do understand that many think they are reaching a greater audience through the use of Facebook, or other social media. Doing so, however, alienates those of us that despise social media in all its forms. Legacy platforms are where you began and I can only hope that you continue."

Glen Singer emailed: "Hi, Have never listened to Celtic music. That said, I saw your podcasts, so what the heck, I gave it a listen. Wow - fantastic! Just finished walking around Halifax, and listened to your new posting on the Texas festival. I am hooked. Being that I am a newbie, are there any introductory Celtic music podcasts out there? I know the hard work that goes into the entire podcast process-You do it well: combination of music and context/dialogue. Kind Regards."

Colby Madsen emailed: "Do you have a store online and an event calendar."

Victoria Mathis posted on Facebook: "Hello, I just wanted to answer your request for messages tonight. You are my favorite evening Irish and Celtic music channel on Roku. The music you play often reminds me of my Irish Grandmother who would sing many family songs, some were great old drinking tunes too. My very Scottish Grandfather would laugh along to her funny songs and play his auto harp.
We would sing with them and laugh with the funny songs drinking our root beer ice cream floats while the adults enjoyed their beverages too. I miss those days while I still enjoy doing the exact same traditions with my modern era family. Keep up the awesome work, you remind me of the words of a forgotten song at least once a night."
