Well, this was an oddity. It's a wonderful evocation of how life changed after the Great War, it's a very successful though understated spine-chiller, and it's a fairly predictable love story. It certainly kept me reading, and I will read more of her work.

This book is one where after the war between England and France the way the people in the upper class lives changed.
