A very engrossing personal account of the civil war through the eyes of a confederate officer's wife. The true "gone with the wind"

I can’t remember how I heard about this book or why I had it on my Kindle. I realize it was published 119 years ago, and it’s entirely possible that historical memoir was not really stringently defined back then, but honestly I have a hard time believing that this book was narrated in any such detai

A very interesting easy read. Shows what life was like for a confederate wife. It's so different from how we live today.

Four stars. Glad I wasn’t a woman on either side at the time.
