They chose for their confidant "Red" Leary. The securities, as subsequently transpired, were at this time buried in a cellar on Sixth Avenue, near Thirty-third Street, New York. The precise spot was indicated to Leary by Mrs. Scott, who, in doing so, reminded Leary of an agreement entered into by the members of the gang before the robbery, that any one of their number who might get into trouble could, if he saw a necessity, call upon his confederates to dispose of all the securities on whatever terms were possible and use the proceeds in getting him and others—if others were in trouble also—free. Good book. Worth a few euros for sure.

More of a gateway to further reading I would imagine though. Fairly short and not in depth in detail justvwhats necessary.

Anyone familiar with “Deadwood” will enjoy reading about the Pinkertons. Very shrewd people

Great historical read

Colorful characters of truth, a time period that draws you in in each short story. It was fun to read and it’s history impressive for investigations of its time. Beware though. Some things are brutal truth and details.

Really interesting insight into the operations of the Pinkertons and some of their more incredible stories. quite fun to find out hours train and bank robbers used to work... and get get caught.

Fun journey through old times of crime solving before science did all the work. Great read. Would recommend to younger generations.

Some really interesting and true stories of crimes committed yesteryear. The history of the Pinkertons is very much worth your time!
