ENGLISH: Seven stories by Bret Harte. The title story, "Trent's Trust," is quite long and quite good, a kind of mystery that gets solved about half the story without losing the reader's interest. "Prosper's old mother" is also very original, and Jack Hamlin's story (there is one in every collection)
