Wellsted’s Explorations in Oman.
Perhaps the most satisfactory account of the interior of Oman—the southeastern portion of Arabia—has been given by Lieutenant Wellsted. While in the Indian Navy he was employed for several years in surveying the southern and eastern coasts of Arabia. Having become somewhat familiar with the language and habits of the people, he conceived the idea of undertaking a journey to Derreyeh, in Nedjed, the capital of the Wahabees, which no traveller had then reached. The governor of Bombay gave him the necessary leave of absence, and he landed at Muscat in November, 1835.

رحلات مختلفه حول المملكه العربيه السعوديه من شمالها الي جنوبها الي شرقها لمختلف الرحاله و الاحداث في حقبة الدوله السعوديه الثانيه، استفدت بشكل كبير وتعرفت على المناطق وتاريخ الدوله السعوديه.
كتاب جيِّد وربما يكون بدايتي في قراءة كتب المستشرقين. لكن مشكلة ظلت تزعجني طول قرائتي، وهي معضلة الجمل الاعتراضية التي واجهت المترجم، والتي لا تكاد يخلوا منها سطر من السطور، وتحديدًا في فصول بالغريف. كما أن المترجم لم يتمكن حتى من الخروج من عباءة التركيب اللغوي للغة الإنجليزية، فكانت ترجمته أحيانًا
الكتاب يتناول الفترة التي كانت فيها جزيرة العرب مكاناً مجهولاً للأوروبيين ..
وأغلب فصوله تركز على رحلة بالغريف الذي زار أغلب دول المنطقة وجاب الصحراء في مجموعة من المغامرات الممتعة والخطرة في بعض الأحيان متنكراً بشخصية طبيب شامي..
