Sweet little stories from a very imaginative and experienced naturalist. It hasn’t been my favorite of our Nature Lore (they were also a little long sometimes), but still very enjoyable. I especially appreciated his defense of the common chipmunk as a beneficial citizen to a homestead
I love books about nature. And I love old fashion books. So this book was a hit. It planted in me that desire to go and sit and wait in nature itself to catch a glimpse of what I can't see in my hurried life of every day living.
My favorite chapter was the chapter describing the antics of the chipmun
