"Sure you did," said Len reasonably. "Once when you were looking at the baby book, and then again just now, after you said ugh to the highball. Speaking of which—"

"Mama drink milk," said Moira, speaking with exaggerated clarity.

Moira hated milk.

Len swallowed half his highball, turned and went silently into the kitchen.

When he came back with the milk, Moira looked at it as if it contained a snake. "Len, I didn't say that."

"Okay."

"I didn't. I didn't say mama and I didn't say that about the milk." Her voice quavered. "And I didn't laugh at you when you fell down."

Len tried to be patient. "It was somebody else."

"It was." She looked down at her gingham-covered bulge. "You won't believe me. Put your hand there. No, a little lower."

A bizarre little tale where the unborn child of the main couple seemingly begins controlling its mother from the womb. Shudder at the idea...seen one too many scary movies where any time a child-like creature regardless of its origin starts talking and controlling people...its never a good thing.

Interesting story, but goes out with a whimper.

I'm deep drowned to the story, and start wondering if all baby actually have some sort of connection with their mother but not all mother can catch 'it'.

Weird and Interesting

I read this because of the Twilight Zone episode based on this author's story "To Serve Man." This was a very strange book! I did not care for the abruptness of the ending and felt like I was left hanging. However, I was also relieved by the way the story ended. A very weird boo
