Hawthorne’s last novel, unfinished. Awesome to read it and see his notes indicating where he would have enhanced or elucidated upon a point. Also interesting to see how his changes in plot were not fully implemented but yet did not impede my enjoyment.

I think this may be my favorite novel by Hawthorne due to the themes it deals with. It is still quite rough because Hawthorne didn't finish it, but it was so fascinating to see his process and the notes that he left to himself. Also, I really enjoy stories that deal with obsession.
