I picked it up for "The Horla", and i was a little disappointing in that story (it might deserve 3 stars, but it gets 2 because I was unhappy with it). Overall I really enjoyed his work.

I like Guy de Maupassant's short story writing. But my problem with short stories in general is because they are short the author can focus on the character or the story (plot) but does not have the space to do both. If I cannot relate to the main character, the story is rarely interesting. His plot
