One has to remember this was written in 1911. For anyone who knows the Canadian north, it is a good story. Lots of twists and turns!

Melodrama. Strong. Villains can be heroes and vice versa. Hyacinth scent, fine hair, Phil is in love.Trapped in a coffin, he saves lives. Typos: 9.9 trial IS trail 10.8 tell IS fell 12.2 halt IS half 14.11 wards IS words

This book is so bad, it's (almost) good.

The Mounties kept Canada civilized, and always (politely) get their man. Except for Philip Steele, and I like him the more for it.
