A sweet, lighthearted, romantic comedy. This book probably won't be rated high among modern readers, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. One of my favourite Farnol yarns.

What a fun read. The noble Major, the stalwart Sergeant, and the wonderful ladies who understand human nature oh, so well. Beautifully done by Farnol and well worth reading.

Honestly, this is a romance, after its manner. That is to say, the romance is a large part of the story. It's not a romance in the way of anything written in the last forty years where sex replaces love. Having said that, it is a light diverting read.
