Strange to find a woman writing with the same bravado and frank masculinity as Hemingway or Jack London, but with a simultaneous elegance and fondness for classical antiquity and nature as the Brontës or romantics. Truly an odd and splendorous bird, this Vita Sackville-West. Something of a shame her

A bit of everything in this early collection: Lyrical, rhyming couplets, pastoral. A nice collection of 19th-century poetry written in the 20th century. Sackville-West includes some of her roots with gypsy references, gardening, and travel. There are also interesting references to astronomy in the c
