১৮৬০ সালে দীনবন্ধু কর্তৃক রচিত, বাংলার সাধারণ কৃষকদের উপর জোরপূর্বক নীল চাষের জন্য ব্রিটিশদের দ্বারা অত্যচার ও নিপীড়নের ঐতিহাসিক বিষয়টি সাহিত্যের মাধ্যমে ফুটিয়ে তোলা হয়েছে।

Read this for a class, totally lost. Maybe it was the translation. I used the Guttenberg Project to read it, so likely the translation was the 1861 translation that put people in jail. I came to GoodReads to get a synopsis of the play before I went to class, so I'm giving it 5 Stars since it's obvio

পাঠপ্রতিক্রিয়া: আমার এর আগে নাটকের বই তেমন পড়া হয়নি। সুতরাং এটা আমার কাছে নতুন ছিল এবং একটু কঠিনও। কারণ ভাষাশৈলী গ্রাম্য এবং সাধু যা বোধগম্য হতে কষ্টকর ছিল। তাই বেশিদূর এগোতে পারিনা।

The ending is a bit of a mess no? I'm not asking for a happy ending in a play like this but it could have been less chaotic. Tragedy doesn't necessarily mean pointless deaths left and right. Anyway, a good read. Such a shame people suffered so terribly
