It was a good story. It is a murder mystery/love story. There were lots of twists as the man accused of the murder was obviously not guilty. I really never figured it out although there was something suspicious about the person finally revealed to be the murderer.

Twice as long as it needed to be. The author just waffles on and on and onnnnnnnnn... there are entire chapters that don't say anything important or move the plot forward!

Very enjoyable period piece with lovely descriptions and intense love between hero and heroine. He has to clear his name, as main suspect in a murder and he had sworn revenge and had taken an assumed name. Flashbacks to Italy. Full of rich and influential people with touch of Dickens with Benjamin L
