An absolutely fun read!

I twice read the book, and both times found the courage and perseverance of settlers, soldiers and Native Americans to be inspiring. An interesting perspective of the early days of our country.

I LOVE most of his books and I am an 81 year old woman. His descriptions of the North American Continent before it was settled, built up and ruined are magnificent! He is not a boring writer at all. He writes of adventures in a land that we can only dream about or maybe get a glimpse of in our Natio

A good book for vacation.

A nice bok for light reading on vacation. The struggle of two boys making for California and end up finding a life in the wilderness. Witness to the battle of little big horn but return to their new found home in the Rockies.
