Part 3 explains the history leading up to the secession of the 15 southern states.

Part 4 describes the secession and civil war.

It’s a bit dry.

A common thread to present time in New Orleans

Very interesting considering the events happening in New Orleans st this time. The removal of the statues that are mentioned in the diary by the Mayor for political future in Washington DC.

The book was so interesting. I learned more from it than in school. It was hard to put down. Awesome!
