I'm not sure what the point of this book is since Fenwick's career never amounts to much of anything. Fenwick is a selfish jerk whose arrogance and churlish behavior consistently sabotage the opportunities his artistic talent brings. The only mystery is why anyone, let alone Eugénie his saintly patr
