Will Carleton has become my favorite poet. After finding a copy of Farm Legends in an antique store, I delighted in each ballad. Of course I had to find Farm Ballads, so I found it in ebook. It is delightful, but lacks the format and beautiful sketches present in his hardbacks! I located a vintage c

Very sweet home-town poems from the late 1800s, I'd estimate. Most of the stories have happy endings, too. My favorite is "The Old Man Meditates", wherein a patriarch laments the passing of the quiet days of close community by the roaring technology of 'Progress'.
