My 9th ME Braddon book; More about the lives and parties of the upper class than the murder mystery of some of her other books and could for me, been a bit shorter;?what some women did to win the love of a rich uncle in order to be his heir is beyond me and walk in Dead men’s shoes, especially when
An entertaining enough read but not one of Mrs Braddon's best, mainly due to a rather unlikeable female protagonist.
Disappointed. It started well, but then the development became predictable. Not Miss Braddon at her best.
Very entertaining, but it's so offbeat it's almost like a soap opera.
A rich uncle comes home after many years in India, and his orphaned nieces hope to inherit his fortune. I loved the youngest sister best, because she was spunky and loyal.
