Written many years ago but has an essential sweetness and innocent air about it, as do of Joseph C Lincoln's books. It's literary comfort food, the kind of book to read when feeling fragile or a bit lost in the modern world and in need of a gentle word.

Loved this as with all of his books. Light reading, very entertaining and the accents and habits are great.
This had a bit more drama to it and ended on a light note wishing there was more.

Love the salt water feel, well paced story, well written, fully developed characters.

Wonderful story of how a little orphan girl disrupts an old sea captain's life.
