The cab drew up at the curb and came to a standstill.

This book was a fun read. It is a light-hearted story about a retired-sea-captain-turned-store-keeper, who unexpectedly inherits a bit of money. The story really revolves around his wife, who decides to sieze her opportunity of rising in "society", and his daughter, who's ingenious plan to temper h
