I've just finished the last of the nine Chekhov stories in this volume. Thanks to my "Catching Up" group for getting me started with "Gooseberries". I saved "The Wife" for last, and it was my favorite. 4 stars from me. One day I plan to read some of his short novels/ novellas- my library has a book

Chekhov is full of irony, but not twist endings. The stories are largely characterizations devo
