First, Haggard's writing style is more classical, which tends to be a bit verbose. Second, he is not particularly focused on exposition. He doesn't sp

Unmistakable Rider Haggard, full of the sounds of conflict, personal loss, victorian christian morals and English patriotism. The pace is faster and the details are less elaborate. It flows slightly faster than some of his other books and the end is almost disappointing.
