This is the 6th book in the Civil War series by Altsheler. I liked the parts about the events of the Vicksburg campaign, but the author gave a 2 paragraph synopsis of the events after Chickamauga and the Battle of Chattanooga.

You must have been great at history great writing keep up with the great books and I'll keep reading thanks Bill
