Pushing to the Front

Orison Swett Marden

Book Overview:

Pushing to the Front is the product of many years of hard work, and marks a turning point in the life of Dr. Marden. He rewrote it following an accidental fire that brought the five-thousand-plus page manuscript to flames. It went on to become the most popular personal-development book of its time, and is a timeless classic in its genre. Filled with stories of success, triumph and the surmounting of difficulties, it is especially well-targeted at the adolescent or young adult. It is a book to inspire the reader towards a noble sense of integrity, a strong moral foundation, and solid, enduring self-discipline to let the reader put each foot forward as the leader they are meant to be.

And what time do you think, as a general rule, I have devoted to study, to reading and writing? Not more than three hours a day; and, when Parliament is sitting, not always that. But then, during these three hours, I have given my whole attention to what I was about.'"

S. T. Coleridge possessed marvelous powers of mind, but he had no definite purpose; he lived in an atmosphere of mental dissipation which consumed his energy, exhausted his stamina, and his life was in many respects a miserable failure. He lived in dreams and died in reverie. He was continually forming plans and resolutions, but to the day of his death they remained simply resolutions and plans.

He was always just going to do something, but never did it. "Coleridge is dead," wrote Ch. . . Read More

Some books are meant to be read and kept by your side - for life! This is one such book. Very powerfully written. Fills you with enthusiasm when you read. Gives you advice when you are down.

The best thing is its written as small chapters. Each independent and yet equally powerfully. Even if you rand

Magnificent read

Every 14 year old and older should not only read this book they should make a study of it. It is like an operational manual for the human spirit that lays out a very clear path to success in life. A truly great book!

UPDATE 10/27/2016; finished the book today. Long read but extremely well worth it. Every chapter seemed better than the previous chapter. Two great questions to ask regarding any book. 1. Would I read it again? YES 2. Would I encourage my children to read it and their children? ABSOLUTE YES AND ALRE
