More like Patty & co decamp to a hotel owned by one of the wealthier members of the group (which they have all to themselves) and Patty flirts with the idea of going on stage (but is disillusioned in the appropriate and time honored fashion).

Patty is 20 years old in this book, which, as her stepmother puts it, is "old enough to marry, if she wants to, yet it's young enough to wait a while if she prefers." Well, Patty definitely prefers to "wait a while." But events are moving her towards some kind of decision.
