"Not at all," retorted the ghost. "I didn't ask you to smash your furniture. On the contrary, I warned you that that was what you were going to do. You suggested smashing me, and I told you to go ahead."

Parley couldn't deny it, but he could not quite conceal his resentment.

"It is not my habit to have opinions, but..."

There is much that is clever and interesting in Bangs collection of loosely linked short stories, with a dabble of science fiction and pseudo-fable. He is a fun writer, and is not afraid to play with his more famous contemporaries and their reputations,

The stories are a lot of fun . The author made me laugh and smile for which I am grateful .
