The Other Side of the Sun

Evelyn Sharp

Book Overview:

What better thing can I say about this book except that it is written by Evelyn Sharp the author who writes fairy stories with a flowing and beautiful style. These eight stories are different in that they are a bit longer than usual fairy stories, taking time to explore motivation, mood and plot; the characters seem to be real people not just two dimensional elements put there to round out the story.

And this was the song:—

"Sing-song! Don't be long!
Wistful, Wistful, come and play!
Sing-song! It's very wrong
To stay and stay and stay away!
The world is much too nice a place
To make you pull so long a face;
It's full of people being kind,

Sharp is the bomb and no one can convince me otherwise. While this collection wasn't as compelling as All the Way to Fairyland, it holds its own nicely in a time of high fairy tale publications.
