Good collection of short stories, one of which, “Boule de Suif,” first gained him celebrity as a writer. Two others that I liked are “The Prisoners” and “The Lancer’s Wife.”

I loved these quirky little stories. They are beautifully written, and full of irony. Sometimes they are funny, and sometimes they are sad. Both types teach great lessons.
