"Ask Pepe to find some kind of lodging for the night," said Ken to George.

Pepe began to question the natives, and soon was lost in the crowd. Awhile after, as Ken was making up his mind they might have to camp on the station platform, a queer low 'bus drawn by six little mules creaked up. Pepe jumped off the seat beside the driver, and began to stow the luggage away in the 'bus. Then the boys piled in behind, and were soon bowling along a white moonlit road. The soft voices of natives greeted their passing.

Valles appeared to be about a mile from the station, and as they entered the village Ken made out rows of thatched huts, and here and there a more pretentious habitation of stone. Not my usual desired read, but I wanted to read at least one Zane Grey. Now I have. I will never understand why the first instinct is to kill, rather than observe and study when confronted with new wildlife. I can see where young men would love this sort of story, very much an adventure story, explo

This was a great book. I have really enjoyed the stories of Ken Ward and his brother. This was a Mexican adventure as they charted a river. An entertaining read in this time of Pandemic.

An interesting read. Ken and Hal go canoeing in Mexico. The writing has a very early 20th century feel to it, it almost feels as though I'm watching an old classic movie on Saturday afternoon. It provides a curious insight into the beginnings of writing adventure novels.
