I loved how it was written as if you were having a conversation with the crew, so lovely. The way it flows giving insight in every step of the process to make this film and how it brings out how much of a outsider everyone at Laika was in school makes this film feel even more special.

Talking about this book will not be complete without mentioning LAIKA, the animation studio that made ParaNorman. They were founded in 2005 and this is their second film. Coraline (2009) was their first. I think they have tremendous faith in their craft of making stop motio

Like most 'making of' books I've read, the text in this one was a little repetitive. Really enjoyed the pictures, though. I found myself most drawn to the photos of people working (which gave it a personal touch and showed the scale of the production) and the concept art for the various backgrounds/

This is the second "Art of..." book that I've read from LAIKA. (They're definitely one of my favorite studios all around, and I can't wait to get a copy of the "Art of Kubo.")
