Bangs wrote this around 1910, a look at the end of the gilded age, using rewritten fairy tales. There is a lot of financial chicanery in these stories and some work better than others. Jack and the Check Book, the story, seemed to be about the joy of check kiting. Nice to know. The problem is that t
