Actually read a printed-out PDF from ECCO. Wouldn't recommend this edition, which is ugly as all get-out.
Fabulous weird book.
This is much like an 18th century Horatio Alger story, about a London pickpocket who becomes rich after many adventures (including multiple pirate attacks) and finds God and Gold. I give Colonel Jack four stars only because the first hundred pages (in which our hero is living a life of crime) are so
What a strange (now out-of-print) book with which to cap this little Defoevian fling I've been having (at least as far as fiction goes, as I still have the massive A Tour Through the Whole Island of Great Britain to travel), as several of the parts of this novel are much greater than the sum.
