The Golden Snare
James Oliver Curwood
Book Overview:
With but two years of service in the RNMP Philip Raine finds himself somewhat unwillingly on the trail of Bram Johnson, wanted for murder and a wild, untamed and savage man who commands a pack of wolves as his brethren.
But most peculiar of all is the snare which Bram had had in his possession and had somehow lost. It was a golden snare intricately woven out of the finest, most delicate flaxen hair of a woman. But what could possibly be the relationship between this half-human murderer and a woman who could have borne a crown of such beauty and elegance? The mystery of Bram Johnson and his wolves and the golden snare becomes one which Raine feels compelled to unravel even as he pursues the wild man and his pack among his own territory of the Canadian barren lands.

With the going of the fire an utter and chaotic blackness shut him in. Feeling his way he crawled through the door of his tunnel, over the inside of which he had fastened as a flap his silk service tent. Then he stretched himself out in his sleeping-bag. It was surprisingly comfortable. Since he had left Breault's cabin he had not enjoyed such a bed. And l. . . Read More

A True Classic
So glad that i decided to venture back in time to read James Oliver Curwood. These great stories of nature, the North, and human survival are amazing to read.
Since I live not far from Curwood's hometown of Owosso, with its unique Curwood Castle, I've been interested in getting to know his books. I've tried to read several, but this is the only one that grabbed me and held my interest straight through to the end. In 'The Golden Snare', he doesn't rely upo
