This was a Re-read. I read it in Vol. 1 of the three volume Del Rey collection. I read it in anticipation of reading Scott Oden’s Conan short story from Titan Books.

A mighty warrior (Conan), an evil king, a beautiful scantily dressed girl, a monster... well, this is some serious pulp fiction in a land of fantasy. Oh Mitra. Typical Conan story, but definitely not one of the very best. Nice cover though. Recommended for Conan and Howard fans!

As a fella who’s dating a dynamite blonde woman, she’d be the one slaying the giant metal man and the erotically long snake.... but yeah whatever Conan.

Conan is tricked into pursuing a girl to an island. On this island there are ruins of a fortress which are haunted by an ancient demon.

The concept of this story definitely feels like a classic Conan story. And the execution of the plot is okay, there’s definitely some gripping action scenes to find
