Well, this was fun. A bit like James Oliver Curwood, but without quite so much of the adolescent male fantasy. But, we do have manly men in the great north woods. In this case, they were in Alberta and were gold miners. It was particularly fun because it came out the year after my father was born. S

Set in Northern Canada, this book follows the life of young Englishman Walter Ingleby and his friends Tom and Hetty Leger, who are brother and sister. Ingleby is strongly attracted to Grace Coulturst, an aristocratic young woman who seems out of his reach in the strict class system he is trapped in.
