In The Compromised Signal, Maya Vale is a signals intelligence officer forced into the field after a botched operation and kept at arm’s length by the people who still need her key intel. Working San Diego near a military base as an IT consultant, she walks into Helix Meridian just as a leaked security protocol and compromised communications inside her own institution turn the China-U.S. technology war into a counterintelligence crisis.

Her assignment is a mole hunt: infiltrate the tech company, trace the staged whistleblower campaign, and identify the insider selling critical data to foreign entities before Pacific Edge becomes the leak’s public launch point. But secure channels are monitored with obfuscation protocols, satellite feeds are thinning, and a rival intelligence officer backed by compromised insiders across multiple agencies can bury the truth faster than she can confirm it.

Maya’s fatal flaw is her faith in metadata over people, which pushes her to mistrust the wrong allies even as the evidence points closer to home. Each confirmation risks exposing her cover, burning the handoffs she needs, and forcing her to choose between a clean accusation and the human cost of the asylum bargain, the redacted records, and the people caught in the blast radius. By the end, the real price of certainty is the Helix Meridian consultant identity she used to get through the door.
