This is the second book in the Time Patrol - Nancy Laplante series. Nancy Laplante, a war correspondent and a Canadian Army reserve officer, is back at her home near Montreal in 2012, returning from the year 1941 after being abducted by scientists from the 34th Century and being abandonned near London in 1940. There, she had to survive World War 2, marrying an American officer in the process and also adopting an orphaned German girl before being rescued by someone from the future. Many things had however happened to her during that year in the past and she is now resolved to do something to prevent more illegal time travel experiments.
